New fitness app supports leg amputees
With a newly developed fitness app, Ottobock supports self-managed prosthesis training for leg amputees. It was developed by physical and occupational therapists with the goal of helping leg amputees around the world achieve more mobility and to provide professional support in their everyday lives.
The fitness app is not tied to any specific product so it can be used independently of the individual fitting. Two different modules are available with exercises for “Strength and endurance” and “Balance and coordination”. There are also three different levels of difficulty, so the user's mobility grade is not a crucial factor. A statistical display indicates the progress that has been made with the exercises; individual exercise goals can also be defined and set together with a therapist.
The fitness app with exercises for leg prosthesis wearers can now be downloaded for free from the Apple store or the Google play store by searching "Fitness for amputees".
