Benefits at a glance

Stairs and obstacles function

The stairs and obstacles function is unique in the field of prosthetics. It makes climbing stairs step-over-step possible – with barely any compensating movements. Intuitively while moving, with no special commands. An innovation that was unthinkable for non-motorised prostheses. With the Genium, barriers like curbs and obstructions around the house can be managed completely naturally.

Individually programme five MyModes

For most demands of everyday life, you can use the Genium basic mode. You can individually programme up to five MyModes for special situations. Would you like to play golf? Your O&P professional will then adjust the precise knee flexion you need for your personal tee-off. On the golf course, you switch on the programmed mode and make a fine adjustment via the Cockpit app, if necessary. After teeing off, switch to the basic mode again with two clicks and proceed as usual to the next hole. The wide range of MyModes brings flexibility and independence – not only in training but also in different situations at work. So that you can actively shape your life.

Standing, even on slopes

The Genium recognises when weight is placed on it while standing still. This makes it possible for you to distribute your body weight naturally and to load your joint in a balanced way without initiating the next step – even on slopes and uneven ground. For this purpose, you can choose between the intuitive and intentional stance function. Your O&P professional enables the version you prefer.

The advantage for bilateral prosthesis users

In the development of the Genium, we have paid particular attention to the needs of bilateral transfemoral amputees. Together with bilateral Genium users, we have developed solutions that meet the desire for more stability and safety. An example is the intentional stance function. Here you initiate the natural stance function deliberately and also end it with a distinct signal, either by relieving the prosthesis or extending it slightly.

Simple control on the go: the Cockpit app

With the new Cockpit app for Android devices, the Genium provides an easy way to control the joint and to enable and disable functions such as the sitting function. The app also displays additional information such as the charge level of the Genium battery. A remote control is of course available as an optional accessory.

Smart energy management

The battery life of the new Genium is an average of five days. To save even more energy, the knee joint activates the sitting function when the user is sitting down: The Genium then switches to a free-swinging position. This not only saves battery power, but is comfortable for you in this position as well. If the Genium's functions are not currently required, e.g. if you are sitting for longer periods or have taken off the prosthesis, you can select the deep sleep mode via the Cockpit app or the remote control. The deep sleep mode is simply practical in many situations – and saves energy.

Switch sounds off with mute mode

Sometimes, receiving feedback through a sound or vibration from the joint is not desirable – for example at the cinema, in the theatre, at work, at a lecture or at home when children are sleeping. With the new Genium, mute mode can be activated using the Cockpit app or remote control. Only safety-relevant notifications are then sent by the joint.

Weatherproof

The Genium is weatherproof and therefore protected from occasional exposure to water. A sudden rain shower while walking is no longer a problem and an obstacle for your active life.

Functionality

Unique technology at the heart of your mobility

The Genium’s introduction in 2011 represented a breakthrough in lower limb prosthetics – but it didnt’ stop there. Every step of the Genium’s development has pushed the limits of technology farther with the goal of coming even closer to the natural model. Years of research and development work have resulted in the Genium as we know it today. Movements are calculated with incomparable accuracy and triggered in real time. The technology recognises whether the user is on uneven terrain or inclines and whether they are changing speeds.

Studies have proven the long-term health benefits of the targeted relief it provides for the sound side. Compensating movements are reduced. Thanks to the Genium’s intuitive use, users benefit from being able to focus their attention on the important things in life, rather than having to think about every step.

Smart app control

Thanks to integrated Bluetooth®, the Genium can also be controlled with an app. Additional movement patterns are stored as MyModes and can be very easily selected using the corresponding app. Mute mode can be selected via the app as well and is ideal when visiting the cinema or theatre, for example. The battery charge level can also be checked in no time using the Cockpit app, which is available for the new Genium on both Android and Apple (iOS) devices.

  • How long will the Genium battery last?

Intelligent energy management integrated in the Genium results in a battery capacity of up to 5 days when fully charged. However, we recommend charging the knee joint daily overnight.

  • What happens when the battery is drained?

Vibration messages provide a timely warning when the battery charge gets too low. Once the battery is drained, the Genium automatically switches to safety mode.
